Why we call our candidates our queens

Why do we call the women and non-binaries in our candidate base "Queens"?
When we talk to the women in the We Exist community we have noticed that many of them carry a lot of bad memories, experiences, self-doubt and negativity about themselves and the industry.
This is not what we signed up for! We should not have to deal with disrespect at the workplace, bad jokes, lower salary or not being taken seriously; just because you're a woman or non-binary.
When you experience this kind of environment for a long time, it's easy to believe that this is how it's supposed to be and we start to even question ourselves and our value. For example, one woman we had booked an interview with wanted to cancel her meeting with us because she felt she wasn't good enough. That makes us so sad. No one should think that about themselves! Luckily, she didn't cancel and now we have an amazing job for her.
Because of all of this we believe it is time for change and empowerment, a transition where companies realise they should be treating our candidates like royalty: with respect & dignity, valuing them like diamonds.
